2012 HALLOWEEN AWARDS
So every Halloween season I'm going to make sure I watch at least 13 scary movies and then give my own personal awards to them. Luckily AMC, TMC and SyFy make it a point to show lots of scary movies every October, and even Disney and LOGO are getting into the act.

My viewing this year included Frankenweenie, The Cabin in the Woods, The Revenge of Frankenstein, Daybreakers, Attack of the Giant Leeches, Eight-Legged Freaks, Jeepers Creepers, Land of the Dead, King of the Zombies, Halloween, Practical Magic, Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, Hotel Transylvania, and The Body Snatcher.

And the 2013 Annual Award Halloween Movie Winners are:

Best Comedy or Spoof to Frankenweenie, a hilarious take on horror films with countless references to classic horror movies, even a nod to Ray Harryhausen. Honorable mention to The Cabin in the Woods.

Best Supernatural Creature to Land of the Dead, a surprisingly good zombie flick with a solid cast.

Best Mutant or Nature Gone Bad to Eight-Legged Freaks, which was also in the running for the Best Comedy award. Catch Scarlett Johansson in her pre starlet indie days.

Best Unstoppable Killer to Michael Myers in the original Halloween. Honorable mention to whatever that thing was in Jeepers Creepers.

Corniest to Attack of the Giant Leeches, a real low-budget gem.

Best Actor to Boris Karloff as Gray in The Body Snatcher. Honorable mention to Donald Pleasance in Halloween. Affectionate nod to Mantan Moreland in King of the Zombies.

Best Victim to Nancy Loomis in Halloween.

Best Survivor to Jaime Lee Curtis in Halloween. Honorable mention to Gina Phillips in Jeepers Creepers.

Okay, now you have to wait one entire year for my 2013 awards.
