THE NEW UNFORGETTABLE
Changes to Poppy Montgomery's detective series "Unforgettable" this season are disappointingly unsurprising, as if a committee of conventional minds had sat down to "improve" the program during its hiatus, by bringing it in line with corporate entertainment's preconceived notions of guaranteed success.

First we had a new squad leader: a middle-aged woman in a position of authority. Not much new there in the New Millennium milieu. The older medical examiner was replaced by an attractive young black woman. A likable but rebellious rumpled male Latino joined the squad, and the nerdy tech guy for some reason was given a firearm and sent to work in the field.

So diversity, youth and butt-kicking IT guy. Were they looking for fresh changes, or just checking boxes that some network bean counter put in front of them?
